Northern Tanzania

The parks, in the order that makes sense

Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti sit within a day of each other by road, so a first trip can take in three or four of them without spending the week driving. We plan the route around your dates and the season, not around a fixed departure.

  • 2 to 14 days From a first look to a full circuit
  • From $400 per person The lowest price on a published trip

Where you travel

Tanzania, by circuit

The circuit is what decides which parks can be combined into one trip. Start here if you know you want Tanzania but not yet which part of it.

Zanzibar and the Coast

A short flight from the parks. Where most safaris finish.

Buffalo in Nyerere National Park, Tanzania

Southern Tanzania

Bigger parks, far fewer vehicles

Nyerere and Mikumi are a different trip from a different airport. They are reached from Dar es Salaam, or directly from Zanzibar by ferry or light aircraft, and they offer two things the north does not: boat safaris on the Rufiji, and walking safaris with an armed ranger.

  • 7 trips published From a day trip to a five-day circuit

Zanzibar and the coast

Finish on the water

A short flight separates the parks from the reef, which is why most safaris end in Zanzibar. Stone Town, the spice farms, Jozani forest, the sandbanks and the dhows are all single days out from wherever you are staying, and we arrange them around your flights.

  • 51 excursions published Hotel pickup along the coast included
  • 1 day Out and back the same day

Planned and run by us

You deal with the people running the trip

The person who answers your enquiry is the person arranging the vehicle, the guide and the nights. Nothing is passed to an agency, so when something changes on the ground it is fixed by someone who already knows your itinerary.

Why travel with us

You deal with the operator

Your enquiry reaches the people who run the trip, not an agency reselling someone else's itinerary. That means faster answers and changes you can actually make.

We start from your dates, budget and pace rather than a fixed departure list. Every trip on this site is a starting point, not a package you have to fit into.

Clear costs before you commit

Common questions

When is the best time to visit Tanzania?

The dry season from late June to October gives the easiest game viewing, because animals gather at water and the grass is short. January to March is good for calving in the south of the Serengeti and for warmer, quieter coastal weather. Tell us your travel window and we will say honestly what it is good for.

How far in advance should I book?

For the dry season, several months ahead gives you the widest choice of accommodation. Shorter trips and southern circuit safaris are usually possible at much shorter notice. Ask us about your dates and we will tell you what is realistically available.

Can you combine a safari with a stay in Zanzibar?

Yes, and most first trips to Tanzania do. We plan the internal flights or road transfers between the parks and the coast as part of one itinerary rather than leaving you to arrange the connections.

Do you arrange trips for families and small groups?

Yes. Tell us the ages of anyone travelling with children and we will factor that into vehicle arrangements, driving distances and where you stay.

What is included in a quote?

Each quote sets out exactly what is covered and what is not, including park fees, accommodation, meals, transport and guiding. Anything excluded is listed rather than left unsaid.
