Prison Island and Nakupenda Sandbank with Lunch

This combines the two things most people want from a day on the water at Stone Town, and they sit close enough together to do both properly.

You start at Prison Island with the Aldabra giant tortoises and the island's history, then cross to Nakupenda, a sandbank that appears at low tide with nothing on it but sand and sea.

Lunch is seafood cooked there on the sandbank, with tropical fruit. There is time to swim and snorkel before the boat runs back to Stone Town in the afternoon.

Worth knowing. Nakupenda is a tidal sandbank. How much of it is above water, and for how long, depends on the tide that day, which is why departure times move through the month.
