Mikumi National Park is one of Tanzania’s most accessible and wildlife-rich parks, famous for its open savannahs, large herds of animals, and scenic landscapes backed by the Uluguru Mountains. This 3-day safari offers an excellent balance of travel comfort, extensive game viewing, and relaxation.
You will be picked up early in the morning from your hotel or residence in Dar es Salaam by a professional driver-guide from Wildebeest Footsteps Adventures and begin the drive to Mikumi National Park via Morogoro, enjoying scenic views of the countryside and local villages along the way. Arrive around midday for check-in at your lodge or tented camp and lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive across the Mkataf, where you may see elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, lions, and a variety of bird species, before returning to the lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay..
After breakfast at the lodge, you will return to the park for a morning game drive, one of the best times to see animals as they are most active during the cooler hours. Explore the vast plains of Mikumi in search of wildlife and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the African savannah. Around midday, you will stop for lunch, followed by another afternoon game drive continuing until about 4:00 PM. Later in the afternoon, you will visit a traditional Maasai village to learn about their unique culture, traditions, and daily life. This cultural experience offers a fascinating insight into one of Tanzania’s most famous tribes. After the visit, you will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, you will head back into the park for a final morning game drive, giving you one last opportunity to spot wildlife and capture memorable photos. After the game drive, you will enjoy lunch, then begin your journey to Morogoro to board the SGR train departing at 4:30 PM for Dar es Salaam. Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, you will be picked up from the train station and transferred to your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your unforgettable Mikumi safari experience.
