- Departure tracking, luggage arrangements, and timing for your early morning transfer into Nyerere will be finalized by your private guide.
"Where the River Waters Guide the Wilderness"
Your journey departs early in the morning as you travel southward toward Nyerere National Park. Passing through traditional villages and beautiful miombo woodlands, you will reach the park boundaries by midday. Proceed directly to check in at your premium riverbank lodge. Enjoy a hot lunch as you listen to the birds and watch wildlife moving along the water’s edge right from the viewing decks. In the late afternoon, board a custom river safari boat for your highlight Sunset Boat Cruise. Navigating the wider channels of the Rufiji, your expert captain will guide you remarkably close to large resident pods of hippos surfacing in the shallows. Look along the sandy banks to spot giant Nile crocodiles warming themselves, and watch the skies for stunning exotic birds like bee-eaters and ibises returning to nest. Sip refreshments as you capture the classic African sunset glowing over the water before returning to the lodge for a riverside dinner.

Begin your day with an early morning breakfast looking over the misty river. Board your open-sided or pop-up roof 4x4 safari vehicle for an intensive morning game drive. Nyerere is home to an outstanding density of wildlife. Your guide will track animals across the network of oxbow lakes, keeping an eye out for prides of lions, elegant packs of endangered African wild dogs, giraffes, herds of buffaloes, and sneaky leopards. Following a productive morning of wildlife viewing in the bush, return to camp to freshen up and pack. After a final early lunch at the lodge, board your vehicle for the return transit, arriving back at your destination in the evening with unforgettable memories of Nyerere’s majestic river and wilderness loops.
